So It Turns Out New Orleans Is A Tiny Bit Distracting…

So It Turns Out New Orleans Is A Tiny Bit Distracting...

The last two days we have been a bit lax on the posting of our exploits. (And boy have there been exploits). I didn't want to let another night go by without touching base with our St. Paul's family (and our family and friends following us beyond the walls of our Church)!

There are many conversations to have... One might be as to how we can work all day (leaving the house at 7:30 and returning at 4:30), spend two hours running the 14 members of the team through one shower (4:30-6:30), and then go out dancing until 11:30 at night. (Not to mention the time spent in reflection, prayer, and conversation before bed!!)

But for right now, as these young people are bumping into each other and trying to squeeze five more minutes out of another day without me telling them to get to bed for the 5000th time in the last ten minutes, you need to know this--The St. Paul's Youth never cease to amaze me. If something just hit you in the back of your head, it was the buttons from my vest that shot off as my chest pumped out with pride. The work ethic, love, and deep care they have displayed the last four days leaves me with little doubt of what it means to show the ‘Face of Christ' to everyone that you meet! I can't help watch these folks in action without thinking that the world, with all the problems, all the strife, all the pain...is in good hands.

Goodnight. Say a prayer for us. Say a prayer for the people of New Orleans. Say a prayer for all those in need.

I am very proud of the St. Paul’s Youth and of their adult leaders…and, of course, of Bryan. His mom and I are really especially proud of him.
All of you have been doing so much to bring God’s Love to others. “Someone once said to me: Live Your Life the best you can because you may be the only Bible that some folks ever see or read!!!”

Thank you, Kimberly

I knew in my heart the writer was Bryan—just knew.  And he probably posted his thoughts after an incredibly long day when everybody had long gone to sleep.  And no doubt, he was the first one up the next morning.

Our youth are amazing, as are the rest of you from St. Paul’s working together in New Orleans this week.  You have all been in our thoughts and prayers this week.  We look forward to hearing many more stories from you when you get home!

Excellent thought, Beth!  The writer is none other than Bryan Appel and we have already had a friendly convo about the importance of adding the “posted by” line.  :- p

This is beautifully written, especially the part about the world, with all the problems, etc. is in good hands.  Would it be OK if the writer signs his or her piece?
