Two Meals

July 13, 2009, San Francisco

Hey Everyone!!!

This morning we went to Glide Memorial Church and participated in a unique church service. It was very different from what we experience at St. Paul’s!

After the service, we left and saw a long line of people waiting for lunch. It struck us that all these people were waiting in line for a meal that we would turn up our noses at. When it came time for dinner, we could not make up our minds where to go eat while we were eating ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s. We finally decided on eating dinner at a Mediterranean deli (with groans about having to walk more).

When I look back on our interactions with ‘food’ today, I think about all those people in line and the fact that they don’t choose what they eat and are thankful as long as they get something to eat and then about us who get to eat when and what we want.

Throughout the whole day, we experienced the life of San Francisco and can’t wait to see what is to come.

Hey little sister! I’m glad you are having a good time on your experience. Tell Chandler I said hi and tell me later if she giggles in response! Love you, shorter but older sister.

EMMA!  I am so glad you enjoyed the Glide experience.  That was definitely a very moving experience for me when I went on our trip.  I really like the comparisons you are making as well.  Hope everyone is having fun and we miss you!
