Youth Pilgrimage to Israel Inspiring Others

October 14, 2010, Israel

Inspired by the Youth Group's pilgrimage to Israel this summer, a group of St. Paul's parishioners decided to head east themselves. Guided by David White, co-chair of the Israel pilgrimage, they have visited Istanbul, Ephesus, and Myra so far and their journey continues. Check out the next post for photos from Turkey sent in by David.

Our youth group's experiences in Israel also inspired a number of other folks within the Diocese of Virginia. This Sunday, St. Thomas' Episcopal Church (3602 Hawthorne Avenue, Richmond) has invited members of the youth group to speak to the parish about their experiences in Israel. The St. Thomas community followed the youth group's reflections on this "Live from Around the World" blog and now want to hear more.

Finally, Will Brooks, a young parishioner at St. Paul's, leaves this Sunday, Oct. 17 to spend over a year in Tanzania as a member of the Young Adult Service Corps of the Episcopal Church. We hope to publish updates from Will to this blog in the year ahead.

"Inviting young people into a peace corps type of experience with the church around the world."
