"Layers: Healing Through the Process of Making Art"
Artists' Opening Reception

5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Artist and art educator, Kristin Polich, will host a reception and present her exhibit "Layers," a mixed media show including collage, drawing, painting and encaustic that explores reconstruction and healing through the process of art making. The show will be up throughout December. A sample of her work is below.
About the artist: Kristin is a graduate of Hollins University and teaches Art and Photography at Matoaca High School in Chesterfield County. "I believe and have seen evidence in myself and in my classroom that art has the ability to heal. Art can bring about personal, intimate healing by self-expression, as well as by bringing together a community or group of people. People are not only affected by the act of making art, but in turn the community around that art is forever affected by its presence," says the artist.
