When Bob Hetherington, our rector of 22 years, retired in 2006, St. Paul's was a community of around 800 communicants, with an average Sunday attendance of 350.
Today we seek to grow our membership but don't know how to change ourselves to make this possible.
St. Paul's is a destination church rather than a church within one neighborhood. Over 92% of our members come from over 22 different zip codes, and almost 75% drive 11-30 minutes to church. Our youth attend over 16 schools. (double click on charts to enlarge)
Diversity is both our strength and our challenge.
In Parish meetings one parishioner shared, "What keeps me at St. Paul's is the diverse group of people and the comfort I find."
Another described St. Paul's as being "like a big circle and there is a place for anyone in it - whether liberal or conservative."
We seek to create an even more cohesive community from the riches of our diversity and look to our future Rector's leadership in community building.
