Rector Search

The Search Process

Our Rector search has already been a long process of prayer, work, and discernment.

Bob Hetherington, our wonderful rector of 22 years, retired in June 2006.  The Vestry appointed the Search Committee in December 2006, and we began our work together in January 2007.

In Spring 2007, we hosted a series of small group meetings, seeking open and inclusive participation from parishioners, inviting them to share their special memories of St. Paul’s along with their hopes for our future. Over 125 people attended.  We also invited a small group of clergy and lay leaders outside of St. Paul’s to offer insights.

At the same time, we solicited Parish-wide input through the Hartford Seminary Pastoral Inventory.  We are thankful that 349 parishioners, sixteen-years of age and older, participated by completing surveys.  We invite you to look through the Hartford survey results.  Inventory Results Hartford Report

In Fall 2007, we reported our key findings from both the small group meetings and the survey results at several Parish-wide meetings.  At that time, parishioners gave us valuable additional feedback.

With the publication of this website in January 2008, we welcome names of all persons sensing a call to ministry at St. Paul’s Richmond and names of those whom parishioners and non-parishioners would recommend.   Our Future Rector

The application date for the Rector search process closed on May 1, 2008.

We pray that God’s will is done
through our work.
