Downtown Mission Team

Our Mission:

To listen, pray and discern

  1. what "good news" does the Downtown community yearn to receive and
  2. how might St. Paul's affirm this "good news" in their lives?

Our Action Steps:

  1. Easter: Plant the Seed
    One dinner conversation for those interested in learning more about this ministry, after which each will discern whether to continue.

  2. Pentecost: Grow in the Spirit
    Approximately 12 Downtown adventures, during which the team will grow in relationship with another and experience the Downtown community.

    Adventures might include (a) orientation with Ben Campbell at Richmond Hill, (b) meeting the Downtown community at cafés, festivals, and tenant or merchant association meetings, (c) experiencing other Downtown ministries (e.g., Machipango Experiences, Needles Eye Ministry), (d) visits to "emerging churches", (e) inviting the Downtown community to help create a First Friday "liturgy of creation" at St. Paul's, (f) praying and discerning God's creation in the Downtown community, and (g) continually sharing our experience with the Vestry and people of St. Paul's.

  3. Advent: Envision God's New Creation Downtown
    Sharing our vision of St. Paul's ministry to the Downtown community.
