Downtown Mission Team Adventures

Spring Update & Invitation

Adventure Together #1Dear St. Paul's Friends:

On April 21, twenty-seven St. Paul's "adventurers" engaged in Downtown Adventure #1. We arrived at Aziza's on Main in a beautiful spring rain and left under the smile of our April moon.

You will recall that our mission is to grow in relationship with one another and experience our new Downtown residential community. See the Mission Action Plan.

On Downtown Adventure #1-

We recounted St. Paul's journey to this exciting time-the tremendous growth of our Downtown residential neighborhood, parishioners' growing eagerness to meet these new neighbors, and Wallace's infectious, joyful ministry to all he meets.

Wallace then invited the group to reflect on the Gospel story of two dejected disciples who encountered the spirit of Jesus in a stranger on the road to Emmaus and rediscovered their own purpose in life. He asked us to recall how strangers have affirmed us on our life journeys.

And, finally, Buford Scott invited us to Downtown Adventure #2-to visit with the developers of the new Downtown apartments and condos, to affirm them and their residents on their journeys, and then, in a month's time, to share another meal and our experiences.

Would you like to join Downtown Adventure #2?

All are welcome.

Possibly, you know the Downtown developers and can arrange a brief interview by two parishioners. (Email me at dtcowles (at) aol (dot) com for our current list of developers and their contact information).

Maybe you would like to join an interview team and ask the developers a few questions.

  1. How would you describe the current downtown residential experience? What are your hopes for the future?
  2. What might your residents say about their "experience of community" downtown? Is there a way we might hear their stories?
  3. Could we leave a "flier" on St. Paul's for each of your residents?
  4. Would you like to join us for our next Downtown dinner meeting? We'll be sharing what we have learned. In fact, is there a place nearby that you and your residents enjoy? We want to support the Downtown community with our patronage.

Regardless, you are always welcome to our next Downtown dinner-to enjoy the fellowship, the learning, and the "Adventure".

"Behold God is creating all things new!"

Blessings,

Don Cowles
