Artist’s Reception

Meet-the-Artist Event with Jenn Myer

During the month of October, an art exhibit by Jenn Myer is on display in the St. Paul's Parish Hall. You can view her artwork on Sundays and on weekdays when the church is open (8:00 am to 4:00 pm). Jenn is hosting an Artist's Reception on Sunday, October 4, an opportunity for you to meet her and learn more about her work.

Artist's Statement
by Jenn Myer

I consider my self to be a life long student of Art. My teaching, parenting, paintings, collages are all strong components of my portfolio. I think teaching Art is one of the most honorable positions. I like facilitating others with their ideas as it allows me to expand on my own ideas. When many of my students begin, they are obsessed with perfection in their work. They want to quit the project when paint gets dripped on it. I love the imperfections in their work and in my own. I think it is good to see the artist's hand in the work. Art encompasses so many things. It is investigation, design, presentation, and meditation. Since my daughter, Eleanor, was born two and half years ago I have become more disciplined in my practice of Art. For the past few years I have been developing collages based on found materials, and repurposing old paintings. I still enjoy painting from a still life. I often start out really focused on the object or idea and then I allow my mind to wander and develop patterns and colors that are not really there.

Blessing of the Animals

St. Francis of Assisi Celebration

All people who love animals, along with all pets and their human friends, are invited to this blessing, which focuses on God's gifts of animals, the natural world and our responsibilities as stewards of God's creation. Dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, sheep, birds and even snakes (yikes!), you bring them, we'll bless them! Refreshments and fellowship for two- and four-legged creatures will follow the blessing. Rain or shine. Questions? Call the Rev. Kate Jenkins at 643-3589.
