2011 MLK Celebration Planning Meeting

Begin planning for 2011 MLK Service

The MLK Celebration Planning Committee invite any parishioners to join who wish to help plan the MLK Jr. Celebration Service held with the Woodville Elementary School community. Our first meeting is Thursday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. at Woodville Elementary School. The service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's, after two wonderful years of being hosted by Good Shepherd Baptist Church. We want to have a beautiful and enjoyable service again and want input from those who have attended in the past. Court End Christmas Planning Meeting

First Fridays Art Walk

"Trio Show": Artists' Opening Reception

St. Paul's is a proud participant in the First Fridays Art Walk. This month, artists Helena Agnew, David Scott Lemon, and Naomi Swyers welcome the community to an opening reception for their "Trio Show," on display at St. Paul's during the month of November. Below are samples of Naomi's work, which features glass negatives from Homier & Clark Photography, and David's work, featuring non-objective paintings. Free guided tours of the church will also be available from 6pm until outdoor light is no longer available. Free, unattended parking is available in the St. Paul's Garage for those attending First Fridays beginning at 5 p.m.

Project Homeless Connect (No Emmaus Lunch)

Lunch/Service Fair for those who are homeless

Project Homeless Connect, organized by Homeward, matches clients with volunteers in a one-of-a-kind partnership to assist chronically homeless adults by connecting them to as many on-site services as possible in one day. Lunch is included as part of the day so St. Paul's will not host its weekly lunch this day. St. Paul's weekly Emmaus Walk-In Lunch volunteers are encouraged to help with Project Homeless Connect. DCM Thanksgiving Service

Community Thanksgiving Service

This year's Thanksgiving Worship Service and Reception, organized by the five churches of the Downtown Community Ministry (DCM) will be held at 6 p.m. at 2nd Presbyterian Church, located at 5 N. Fifth Street. The Rev. Pat Shipley, Pastor of Centenary United Methodist Church, will be preaching before her retirement in June 2011. Music for the serice will be coordinated by David Sinden, St. Paul's Minister of Music, and the choirs from the five DCM churches are invited to participate. All people of St. Paul's, especially those volunteers who help with our Thursday feeding ministry, are warmly invited to attend this service. It is a time when all congregations throughout the downtown area come together for an evening of worship and fellowship. A reception will follow the service in the Chapel at 2nd Presbyterian.
