Concert for Caring featuring the Sonorous Brass Company

(Richmond, VA)-On Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 pm, St. Paul's
will host a Concert for Caring featuring the 'Sonorous Brass Company,'
directed by Bartolo Vargas of Puerto Rico. The brass ensemble will
perform "Celebración" by Saviel O. Cartagena and Alberto Guidobaldi's
"Fanfarria."
Vargas is a world-renown euphonium player with a Euphoniumist BM from
Indiana University and MA from the University of Cincinnati's College
Conservatory of Music. Vargas has performed with the Caribbean Tuba and
Euphonium Quartet, the Puerto Rican brass quintet Bronces, and the
Puerto Rico State Band. He has also performed as a soloist with the
Colombia Symphony Orchestra, the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music
Band, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in Richard Strauss's
symphonic poem Don Quixote.
The cost of admission to this concert is caring for others. The
musicians ask that attendees bring one food item to contribute to the
St. Paul's Food Pantry for those who are hungry. St. Paul's specializes
in serving individuals who are on a special medical diet due to
diabetes or renal failure. Needed items include canned meats,
vegetables, pasta sauce, canned fruit, cereal, and beans. Low salt and
low sugar items preferred.
St. Paul's Concerts for Caring food vouchers will also be available for
individuals who can't get to the grocery store or forget to bring an
item. 100% of any donation will be used to purchase items for the food pantry.
The concert will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in the Atrium of
St. Paul's Episcopal Church (815 East Grace Street, Richmond). Free
parking is available in the St. Paul's parking garage (entrance is on
8th Street between Grace and Franklin Streets).
