Locked Out: The Fall of Massive Resistance

Jan. 17: Documentary & Dialogue Night

Locked Out Promotional PosterMartin Luther King, Jr. Day is Monday, January 18. To continue the dialogue about civil rights - where we've been and where we still need to go - St. Paul's Episcopal Church will host a screening and discussion of Locked Out: The Fall of Massive Resistance on Sunday, January 17th at 5:00 p.m.

This one-hour documentary, produced by WCVE PBS in partnership with the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, is the story of the fall of Massive Resistance and the desegregation of public schools told by the students who lived through it. Locked Out profiles the tragedies and triumphs of the children of Virginia whose lives were indelibly altered by Virginia's refusal to integrate the state's public schools following the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. After watching the documentary, we will break into small groups for facilitated dialogue about the film.

This event is free and pizza is included. If interested in attending, please register with Leslie Choplin at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), (804) 545-5418.
