Memorial Garden Gates

The Memorial Garden is a place of tranquility, peace, and natural beauty in the midst of St. Paul's urban setting. The Garden is also a place for the interment of ashes of parishioners (past and present) and their families. Ashes are buried in large, free-standing planters in the four corners of the Garden. The names of the deceased are engraved on brass plaques attached to the planters. The Memorial Garden is supervised by a Committee appointed by the Vestry.

Burial of Ashes

Cremated remains of parish members and their immediate families may be interred in the Memorial Garden. The ashes are buried uncontained in the soil of the Garden's perimeter planters. One cup of ashes may be interred in the Garden's planters, allowing for a symbolic burial. Urns are not permitted in the Garden.

Brass memorial plaques are attached to each planter, and are arranged in chronological order according to date of death. Space may be reserved for the names of future family members under the plaque of the first decedent in a family. A Book of Interment Records documents those whose ashes have been interred in the Memorial Garden.

imageProcedures: Arrangements for the interment of ashes in the Memorial Garden may be made through consultation with the Rector. For more information or to schedule a consultation with the Rector, contact at 643-3485.

Costs: A fee is assessed to cover the cost of interment, and to provide for ongoing maintenance of the Garden. In addition, reimbursement will be made to the Church to cover the cost of the plaque, as well as for any rosettes requested to hold space for future plaques.

Memorial Gifts: Gifts for memorials, thanksgivings and celebrations are always welcome for the continuing maintenance of the Garden. All donations are recorded in a Book of Remembrance maintained by the Altar Guild.
